Respite care

Your loved one will be in experienced capable hands.

Among the services that DASSI offers for all ages are:

• In home support and personal care including bathing, personal hygiene, dressing and feeding

• Anything from 2 hours to 24/7 care

• Regular or weekend requirements

• Planned holiday support

• Transport to and from events

• Full carer support at functions e.g. sporting, professional, family celebrations

• Complex specialist care, including managing PEG feeds, respiratory support, ventilator and tracheotomy care

• Care Workers that are fully trained, accredited and police checked

• Care Workers can assist in the administration of medication.

Our care support services are tailored to meet the individual needs of our clients – older people, all people with a disability, and their families to maximize their personal choices at home and in the community and independence in building fulfilling lives.

Our Services in Victoria

DASSI's range of services includes:

Personal care – Bathing, showering, toileting, dressing, grooming and transportation to appointments and activities.
Home care – Light house cleaning, bed making, light meal preparation, shopping and personal laundry.
Specialist care – Helping with PEG feeds, respiratory support, ventilator, tracheotomy care and medication.
Recreation and rehabilitation – Supporting clients to participate in recreation activities and to attend rehabilitation services.
Post-hospital care – Services tailored to your specific needs following an injury or hospital treatment.
Respite care – Offering carers a break through substitute care in the home.

DASSI provides an emergency after hours on-call care support to assist clients and carers who require emergency shift replacement or support outside standard office hours.

DASSI is a highly regarded not-for-profit organisation that assists Victorians in times of need, namely when they are recovering from an ailment or illness or a long term medical conditions, or if they are incapacitated, either temporarily or permanently.

DASSI provides only the finest quality carers and attendant support staff as and when they are required - be it 'round the clock or for a few hours at a time.

DASSI assists people of all ages and from all backgrounds and cultures to lead independent lives in their homes, workplaces and communities. This may include personal care and mobility support for rehabilitation, education and recreational activities.

DASSI is an incorporated association governed by its Board of Governance and managed by its CEO and supported by a professional group of staff.

DASSI History

DASSI was established in 1984 by a small group that saw a need for a community-based organisation to help those with disabilities to attain more freedom and a better quality of life than what they could receive in institutional care.

DASSI became the first client managed service of its kind in Victoria.

In that first year, the State Government provided funding for 18 people with disabilities.

Demand for services grew substantially - both in number and geographic reach - today DASSI has 523 clients throughout the state and provides personal care over 4,000 times each week.

Funding is now provided by more than 150 sources, including federal and state governments, government agencies, community service organisations, insurers and individuals.

DASSI continues to be driven by the principles that underpinned its foundation.

DASSI has a highly experienced team of trained care workers to provide mobility assistance tailored to your needs including:

• Assistance for you to participate in the workplace, education, and within your communities

• Assistance in getting to your regular medical appointments

• Services to clients with acquired brain injury, spinal cord injuries, stoke, and cognitive impairments (dementia) and many other medical conditions

• 24/7 Service

• Regular or weekend requirements

• Planned holiday support

• Transport to and from events

• Full carer support at functions e.g. sporting, professional, family celebrations

• Support plan development in conjunction with case manager, doctor, occupational therapist and other allied health professional

• Care Workers that are fully trained, accredited and police checked
